We traveled the cities and countryside of Portugal for almost a month, and I found the most beautiful connections to the country came through art and hospitality. We took our sketchbooks, intending on painting and sketching our way through all of the little Portuguese provinces. We painted at cafes, in parks, from our hotel windows; we drew Fado singers, street buskers, portraits of each other, and portraits of our hosts.
